David W. Concepción, an associate professor of philosophy, has received the 2008 Award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Technology from the International Conference on College Teaching and Learning.
"I was honored," said Concepción. "I am grateful to Dr. Eflin for nominating me and the committee for selecting me."
"He deserves the recognition," said Juli Eflin, chair of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies. "He is immensely talented but also immensely generous with others as they hone their craft of teaching."
The April 16 ceremony in Jacksonville, Fla., recognized 40 teaching faculty from the U.S. and abroad and their contributions to higher education.
"Dave's pedagogical choices are diverse, effective, liberating and empowering," Eflin said. "His talent in helping other teachers innovate is impressive and nationally sought after. He fulfills our highest notions of the teacher-scholar."
