iPhone Update
July 12, 2007  The much anticipated iPhone was released on June 29th 2007.  The iPhone has many desirable features for consumers including a thin design, a dynamic touch screen and the ability to play iTunes.

As of this time, University Computing Services is recommending employees use the iPhone as a personal phone, rather than a business phone.  The iPhone does not currently allow the use of many enterprise e-mail systems, including the one used at Ball State University.  Because of this incompatibility, the iPhone limits the user to an insecure method of access, causing your BSU Username and Password to be exposed to outside parties.  Due to this risk, the iPhone should not be used with the BSU e-mail system at this time.

This issue will not remain a problem for long, as Apple is working with Microsoft to incorporate ActiveSync into the iPhone to protect passwords and other confidential information.  Once this is incorporated, it will be safe to use the iPhone as a business phone.
