Although it is unlikely, it is possible for legitimate e-mail messages to be rejected as spam.  For this to occur, the sender of the message would have to be using a system that has been identified as a known spammer, and their system would have to be included in one of the five lists described above.  In this event however, the sender would not only be prevented from sending e-mail to Ball State University, but would also be prevented from sending e-mail to the thousands of other e-mail systems across the world that use this recognized list of known spammers.  If you believe that a person attempting to send you e-mail is being blocked, check the section below for information on verifying this and for correcting the problem.
