Animal Care and Use at Ball State University

In compliance with institutional policy and federal regulations, all projects requiring the use of animals are to be reviewed by the University Animal Care and Use Committee.

Protocol
A copy of the protocol form must be submitted for approval to the Animal Care and Use Committee at least four (4) weeks before the initiation of each independent project. The protocol must be submitted to the Office of Academic Research and Sponsored Programs before the initiation of a project by faculty, administrators, staff, and students. Printed copies of the forms and guidelines are available from the Office of Academic Research and Sponsored Programs upon request or through this web site for only Ball State personnel.

Duration
For projects of more than 12 months duration, an annual resubmission of the protocol is required.

Policy Statements
Research is to be conducted in accordance with Ball State University policy and with applicable provisions of federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Please see the BSU Faculty and Professional Personnel Handbook.
