How to recycle toner cartridges
Toner cartridge availability:

Printers or Copiers:  High-quality, remanufactured toner cartridges are stocked in Central Stores. They may be ordered by university departments through GuyBrown Office Products.

To recycle empty or used toner cartridges:

  • Printers:  Empty printer cartridges may be given to Central Stores delivery personnel or by contacting Central Stores at (765) 285-1802.
  • Copiers:  Toner "waste" that is collected in toner bottles from the Toshiba copiers may be placed in the trash. It is not considered hazardous material. Copier toner cartridges are not recyclable.
  • Fax:  Fax cartridges may be placed in the trash and they will be disposed of as non-recyclable materials.

How to discard unwanted printer toner cartridges

Departments who prefer to dispose of unwanted toner cartridges may contact Mike Planton of Facility Plant Management at (765) 285-5092. The laser toner cartridges collected in this manner are not disposed of in a landfill, but rather are "salvage sold" to a re-manufacturer. Mike will also provide your department with postage-free mailers that allow you to send ink-jet toner cartridges to a recycling center.
