Psychological Science
How to Apply
To be considered for admission, you must submit an application to the Ball State University Graduate School and to our department on the respective application forms.  You must be admitted to the graduate school to be eligable for admission to the department of Psychology Graduate programs, however.  Acceptance to the Graduate School does not guarantee admission to our graduate programs—acceptance to our programs is in addition to admission to the Graduate School.

We will mail you an application packet on request or you can get the packet online. U.S. citizens should mail the completed materials to the department and to the Graduate School. International students must apply through Ball State's Center for International Programs.

Department of Psychological Science application requirements:

  • Completed Department of Psychological Science Standard Graduate Application form (choose either the clinical or the cognitive/social form)
  • An official Educational Testing Service (ETS) report of your Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores (the advanced psychology test is not required)
  • Three letters of recommendation, written by people who are familiar with your academic performance, research and/or clinical experience
  • Personal statement focusing on your reasons for applying to our program. Your long-term career goals, your research experience and interests for the future, your clinical experience (if applicable), and any qualifications which are not obvious from your transcripts and other materials  (limited to two double-spaced, typed pages)
  • A resume or vita outlining your education, honors and awards, research experience, work or internship experience, and other psychology-related experience

Send these materials (except the official GRE report, which is sent by ETS) in one packet to
