A teaching experience can help you decide if you'd like to consider a teaching career. One of the best ways to learn or solidify knowledge is to teach. If you have a strong desire to learn or a strong need to prepare for the Graduate Record Exam (GRE), a teaching assistant position may be for you. Additionally, facilitating student learning helps faculty and undergraduates.

Options:

Department teaching assistant (TA)
TAs help faculty with PSYSC 100 General Psychology. Duties range from attending class to holding office hours to recording test grades. Some TAs lecture a few times during the semester, run regular study or discussion sessions, design practice tests and assignments, or get involved in other aspects of pedagogy (the practice of teaching). If you are interested, contact the department office or a faculty member.

Tutors and supplementary instructors (SI)
Tutors and SIs work in the Learning Center one-on-one or in small groups with students who are struggling with particular courses, such as statistics. For many, this is a good first teaching experience. The Learning Center holds workshops to help tutors and SIs develop teaching skills. If you are interested, contact the Learning Center.
