• "Preflighting" is a popular analogy for the preparation of files before final output to film.  It's an accurate comparison in many ways, but your files "take off" for processing while you stay behind.  However, if on the journey your files go on strike, the results could be costly.The most important part of preflighting is to know what your final product will be.  Work backwards.  Obviously, if you know your job's final form up front (laser prints, commercial printing, etc.), you can insert accurate data regarding resolution, screening, trapping, bleed areas, crop marks, etc.  Most importantly, talk to us about the job at the very beginning.  It doesn't matter how experienced you are, we can often make suggestions that will save you time and money!
