of faculty mentoring students by working with them side-by-side on the important issues of the day .
Now, as the cornerstone of our
Education Redefined: Strategic Plan 2007-2012, we are building upon this tradition by designing
immersive learning programs available to every Ball State student. Immersive learning is intensified experiential learning, in which interdisciplinary student teams working with faculty mentors provide real-world solutions to real-world problems faced by communities and businesses.
This not only provides economic development for our state and region, but it also gives our students the very best preparation for the 21st century workplace, one characterized by constant change, global competition, and collaborative problem-solving.
As a result of this focus on immersive learning, we are attracting an increasing number of high-ability students and observing more
national recognitions of our academic programs. When our strategic plan is fully implemented in 2012, Ball State will have completed $320 million in new construction and renovations to existing buildings in eight years. I encourage you to

As we at the university move toward Ball State’s centennial, we remain committed to providing the best education possible for our students. In doing so, we stimulate economic development and improve quality of life for all the citizens of our state.
