Faculty
Sheron Fraser-Burgess is the
Principal Investigator for the Power Up! Initiative. Dr.
Fraser-Burgess graduated from University of Miami (2005)
with a Ph.D. in philosophy. My dissertation title was, "How
Should a Multicultural Society Educate Its Children for
Pluralism?" My research interests are in the areas of
epistemology and education, critical thinking and
democratic education. At Ball State University, I am an
assistant professor of social foundations/multicultural
education. My teaching responsibilities in the Teachers'
College include foundations courses, multicultural
education and philosophy and ethics of education. I am a
member of the American Philosophy Association, Society for
the Philosophical Study of Education, American Educational
Studies Association and Philosophy of Education Society.
Matthew Stuve is Director of the
Center for Technology in Education and Associate Professor
of Educational Technology. From 1999-2008, Dr. Stuve
directed the undergraduate and graduate programs in
Educational Technology at Ball State University, during
which he led the creation of six academic programs. From
1999-2003, Dr. Stuve was co-principal investigator of a $3M
PT3 funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The BSU PT3
project involved campus- and school-based reform efforts to
improve teacher education and professional practice of
in-services teachers. Some of Dr. Stuve’s work in the
PT3 project included developing web portals for K-12
collaboration and assessment. His research interests
include educational informatics, assessment technologies,
digital and representational literacies, and technology in
teacher education. His Ph.D. is in Educational Psychology
from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with
emphases in learning, cognition and technology.
John Fillwalk is an associate professor in electronic
art at Ball State University. He works and instructs in a
variety of time-based and digital media including video,
installation, imaging, interactive art and animation. He
received his MFA from the University of Iowa in intermedia
and video art in 1990 and has since received numerous
grants, awards, and fellowships. Most recently, he was
appointed the artist-in-residence at the Center for Media
Design at Ball State, funded by the Eli Lilly Foundation.
His most notable exhibitions include Prix Ars Electronica
2004: International Cyberarts Festival in Linz, Austria;
CYNETart 2004: 8th International Festival for Computer
Based Art in Dresden, Germany; 4th Salón de Arte Digital at
the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo. Maracaibo, Venezuela;

Lyn Jones is
doctoral student in Educational Studies-Adult, Higher, and
Community education, Ball State University, Muncie,
Indiana, expected 2011. She has also done postgraduate work
in the School of Library and Information Science, Indiana
University, Bloomington and Indianapolis, Indiana, 2002 to
2003. Ms. Jones has Masters of Science in Language
Education, Indiana University, in Bloomington, Indiana. Ms
Jones has been working in education for 18 years in both
formal (K-12 schools and higher education) and informal
(community and prison) education
Morgan Parker is the production assistant
for the Power Up! podcasts. Morgan is a masters student in
Information and Communication Sciences. His bachelors
degree is from Ball State University, where he majored in
telecommunications with an emphasis in video production.
Morgan has been a CTE iStuio GA since Fall of 2009.

Undergraduate Intern
Marissa Coon worked as the initial technology director for
the Power Up! podcast. Her role in the project was in the
context of EDTEC 485 (Technology Leadership).
