Professor Nominations
Harold Mortimer
"I constantly encourage students to embrace this art form and think outside the box. Many of my students share this excitement, but only one has gone above and beyond. Kaitlin Fumarolo was the first to take innovative steps at not only being the first student to successfully develop and produce an original piece for our experimental theatre space, but created a marvelous show that captivated audiences night after night. I admire her determination to not settle for anything but the best and her amazing collaborative efforts with cast and crew. Miss Fumarolo has my support and I congratulate her for this accomplishment."

"[Kaitlin and Ethan] not only worked in an extraordinarily collaborative way with each other but also with their talented cast and crew. The result was a wonderfully original, funny, and human story. The original characters and story line intersected with and commented upon the original characters we knew from Sondheim's musicals, and the musical score was full of both literal and musical puns. What had begun as simply another production of "Side-by-Side" was transformed through their collaborative efforts into a truly original, and very enjoyable, evening of entertainment."

Michael Daehn

"It was an incredibly creative approach to assembling classic Sondheim musical numbers and shaping them into a love and loss story about a grocery store employee and the three women in his life. The story was highly engaging, the staging and the honesty of the performances demonstrated highly unusual prowess for a college-aged director. Alternating between funny, charming, and emotionally moving, Kaitlin was responsible for overseeing a very, very creative authentic learning project-an execellent example of Ball State's emphasis on creativity, innovation, and immersion!"
