November 2006 Bob Papper Quotes

Bob (Quote1):  What we're doing here is new and it's different and I don't know that there's any place in the country that does it the way we do.  So it's coming up with a new idea which is working with a lot of other people.  This is not just me; it's a bunch of people coming up with really a revolutionary approach to education in this field.

Bob (Quote 2):  You are immersing yourself into the field.  That's what you do, that's all that you do.  If you're in a classroom, it's real easy to come up with a million reasons why you can't do something or why you can't do it the way you might normally do it in the real world because you've got other pressures. You've got other things going on.  Here, this is what you do.  So, what it does is simulate the real world by creating the real world in a controlled environment.

Bob (Quote 3):  On a typical day, a student shows up give-or-take 8:30 or 9:00 in the morning, goes through a real meeting just like you would at a real television station, and then goes out on a story and works on that story that day, comes back, produces that story for the news briefs that they do at the end of the day a lot like you would in any television station in the country.

Bob (Quote 4):  The kids come out of here better prepared, more knowledgeable.  They get jobs; they have all gotten jobs at this point.  All of the kids who have been through this immersion program have gotten jobs in the field, if that's what they want to do.
