Past Immersive Learning Projects
BAA Indianapolis-Cluster Computing Project – The BAA-Indianapolis team conducted an analysis of the technological infrastructure at the Indianapolis International Airport, preparing a proposal and implementation plan for a "high availability" type cluster computer. A paper written by the student team earned honors as the best paper in the category of "Co-operative Projects" during the recent Business Informatics Challenge 2006 in Dublin, Ireland

Virtual Nashville – In this Business Fellows project, students helped the city of Nashville, Indiana's largest tourist destination, assess traffic concerns. The team's work won the inaugural Student Award of Excellence from the Indiana Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.

The Human Faustus Project – Students explored the ethics of genetic engineering and created an original play to engage the public in dialogue on bioethical issues.

The Other Side of Middletown – Students involved in the seminar produced a book, published by San Francisco-based publisher AltaMira, focusing on the ethnographic study of Muncie's black community, a population overlooked in the original Middletown studies conducted in the 1920s. The book recently earned the Margaret Mead Award for outstanding research.

Sobrevivir – Students produced telanovelas that dramatized some of the problems facing recent immigrants to the United States. More than 700 copies of the DVDs have been distributed across the country, and they have aired on Univision, the nation's largest Hispanic television network.

Downtown Dinner Theatre – Students created a professional, not-for-profit dinner theatre providing internships and professional theatrical experiences for Ball State University students and Muncie and Delaware County community members.

Making Your Way Back – Students produced a documentary featuring three area cancer survivors who told their own personal tales of surviving the often-deadly disease. The Cancer Center at Ball Memorial Hospital distributes the DVDs to its patients.
