Fred Kitchens is a good example of what it means to be both a teacher and a scholar.

As the founding director of the Ball State Cluster Computing Research Project, his interests are in business applications and developing new ways to teach students. He sees great potential for cluster computing in business, and believes a key component of that vision is to educate tomorrow's technology professionals today.

He has extensive experience working in the insurance industry, including brokering at England's famous specialty insurance firm Lloyd's of London. Much of his research has involved the application of artificial intelligence to underwriting and claims analysis.
