Crime Prevention
One of the most important functions of a police department is to prevent crime.

University Police have several crime prevention officers whose duty it is to survey the university for high crime areas, recommend to various departments on how not to become a victim of a crime, and to educate the Ball State community on crime prevention. Officers give crime prevention seminars throughout the year to any group or campus organization on topics such as drug and alcohol abuse, theft prevention and the prevention of rape.

University Police is a member of the Indiana Crime Prevention Practitioners Association (ICPPA).
