Undergraduate Students

HEALTH SCIENCE FACULTY SCHOLARSHIP AWARD FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

Eligibility

• Undergraduate departmental majors in Health Science or teaching majors in School Health Education
• Minimum of 80 semester hours by the end of Fall Semester, of which at least 20 semester hours shall have been taken in the department
• All semester hours shall have been taken at Ball State University
• GPA of at least 3.5

Estimated Dollar Value: $300

Additional Information: The scholarship will be awarded to the eligible student with the highest GPA.

McKENZIE-WALKUP INTERNSHIP SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility

• Current major in Health Science Education or teaching major in School Health Education
• GPA of at least 2.75
• Senior who has not yet completed an internship

Estimated Dollar Value: $400

McKENZIE-WALKUP BOOK SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility

• Current major in Health Science Education or teaching major in School Health Education
• GPA of at least 2.75
• Junior who has completed HSC 180 and HSC 200

Estimated Dollar Value: $200

OUTSTANDING DEPARTMENT GRADUATE IN HEALTH SCIENCE

Eligibility

• Current major in Health Science Education
• GPA of at least 2.75
• Undergraduate who is graduating between December of the previous year and July of the current year.

Estimated Dollar Value: Not to exceed $100, to be applied to membership in the professional health education organization of the recipient's choice.

OUTSTANDING DEPARTMENT GRADUATE IN SCHOOL HEALTH EDUCATION

Eligibility

• Current teaching major in School Health Education
• GPA of at least 2.75
• Undergraduate who is graduating between December of the previous year and July of the current year.

Estimated Dollar Value: Not to exceed $100, to be applied to membership in the professional health education organization of the recipient's choice.

SHERRI HITTSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility

• Undergraduate Health Science or teaching major in School Health Education
• First quarter Junior or higher
• GPA of at least 2.7
• Financial need is not a factor

Additional Information: Selection is made for the following fall semester.

ROBERT H. AND ESTHER L. COOPER SCIENCE AWARD

Eligibility

• Undergraduate or graduate student in the Department of Physiology and Health Science who "shall use neither tobacco nor alcohol in any form, nor any illegal drug, and shall be of good moral character."

Estimated Dollar Value: $300

Additional Information: "The selection for the award is to be made on the quality of person rather than financial need or scholastic ability."

RUSSELL E. SIVERLY MEMORIAL RESEARCH AWARD

Eligibility

• Undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a research project in Public Health (or Medical) Entomology

Estimated Dollar Value: $500

Additional Information: A research proposal summary must be submitted.

WARREN E. SCHALLER SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility

• Undergraduate or graduate member of the Alpha Chapter of Eta Sigma Gamma
• GPA of at least 2.7
• At least one semester remaining to complete degree (includes summer classes and/or internship)
• Two letters of support must be submitted in addition to the application package.

Estimated Dollar Value: $150

ZEBERL FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility

• Undergraduate or graduate students who are pursuing a major in Health Science with an emphasis in Community Health Education
• Consideration taken of GPA, participation in professionally related activities, and potential to contribute to the field of Health Science

Estimated Total Dollar Value: $2500

Additional Information: More than one scholarship may be awarded.

Graduate Students

CHARLES R. CARROLL HEALTH EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility

• Graduate students enrolled in a Health Science master's degree program
• Graduate GPA of at least 3.3
• Have at least one semester of work remaining to complete the degree

ELIZABETH A. NEILSON AND GEORGE H. NEILSON SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility

• Full or part-time graduate students with a major in Health Science or a teaching major in School Health Education
• Academic excellence, as established within the department
• Specific evidence on the part of the student of having contributed to the promotion of comprehensive School or Community Health Education during the student's professional years

HOMER D. PASCHALL OUTSTANDING ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY GRADUATE ASSISTANT AWARD

Eligibility

• Graduate Physiology majors in good standing with the Graduate School
• Students who have demonstrated excellence in teaching while graduate assistants in Anatomy and/or Physiology

Estimated Dollar Value: $500

Eligibility

• Incoming graduate student enrolled in a masters degree program in Physiology
• Undergraduate GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale
• Preference given to students planning to serve as a Graduate Assistant
• Based on academic excellence rather than financial need

RAYMOND E. HENZLIK PHYSIOLOGY AND ANATOMY RESEARCH AWARD

Eligibility

• Graduate Physiology students in good standing with the Graduate School who are currently working on a research project
• Preference is given to students from Indiana
