Over the last seven years, the U.S. economy has been growing at an unprecedented rate. Nanotechnology researcher Ron Cosby has been named the George and Frances Ball Distinguished Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Ball State. Cosby, a faculty member in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, led a Ball State faculty team that received a $1.5 million grant from the Indiana 21st Century Research and Technology Fund to create the Center for Computational Nanoscience. Toying with science earns physics teachers national honors
Anyone who tells Jim and Nancy Watson that children can’t learn physics might get showered with toys. But to the Ball State science educators, such items as tops, rubber balls and yo-yos aren’t just toys. They’re laboratory equipment. The couple has been toying with science for more than three decades. Their goal is to bring basic physics principles to elementary school students. FULL STORY

Nanoscience research receives funding

Center For Computational Nanoscience in Atlanta News
This past January, a new nanotech research center was launched in Indiana. Ball State University, Purdue University, the University of Notre Dame, Valparaiso University and Ohio University will participate in joint research.
