Undergraduate Degrees: Astronomy

We offer a minor in astronomy which is combined with a wide range of majors. The program stresses active research in programs at the National Undergraduate Research Observatory at Kitt Peak in Flagstaff, Arizona or in our observatory located on the top of the Cooper Science Complex in Muncie. The hands-on experience with telescopes and data collection using computers equips students for employment in astronomy or in industry.

Undergraduate Degrees:  Internships

Students in both of our undergraduate programs are encouraged in practical experiences and in professional development. We provide opportunities in their introductory courses to prepare resumes and conduct career exploration activities under the guidance of the Career Center. In addition, our departmental majors have a 3-hour capstone research component that is stisfied in one of the following ways: paid internships in industry or government laboratories; a senior Honors College thesis research project; a practical (not paid) experience in an institutional, industrial, or university research or development setting.
