Cooper Science Building
The Department of Physics and Astronomy combines two areas of science within a friendly learning environment. Our physics majors are knowledgeable in theory and skilled at solving practical problems. Physics majors may work in engineering positions such as product development involving computer hardware and software, environmental or industrial management. Early involvement in research, in which students work closely with faculty members, prepares our graduates for challenging careers as technical problem solvers. Astronomy minors combine well with other majors. The program stresses active research in programs at the National Undergraduate Research Observatory at Kitt Peak, Arizona or in our observatory located on the top of the Cooper Science Complex in Muncie. The hands-on experience with telescopes and data collection using computers equips students for employment in astronomy or in industry. Both programs give students opportunities for experiences with new technologies and research.
We are located in the Cooper Science Complex along Riverside Avenue on the southwest section of Ball State's campus. The main office is in CP 101and most of our clossrooms, labs, and offices are located on the ground floor and basement level of the building. Some locations of our facilities include:
Observatory - fourth floor of the Cooper Science Complex
Planetarium - basement of the Cooper Science Complex
