The Department of Physics & Astronomy invites persons interested in graduate study for the master's degree in physics to apply for a 2005 - 2006 graduate teaching or research assistantship. This assistantship will allow the recipient to pursue a full-timecourse of study leading to the Master of Science or Master of Arts degree in physics. The award will be approximately $10,155 for the academic year plus remission of tuition. The award will be based on the strength of the applicant's grade point average, letters of recommendation, and optional interviews.
Qualifications: Minimum requirements for an appointment include a bachelor's degree in physics, an overall undergraduate grade point average of 2.75 or higher, and three letters of recommendation from faculty familiar with your academic performance and potential for success in advanced studies in physics.
Students will have the opportunity to participate in collaborative research projects such as condensed matter (nanoscience), high energy/particle physics, astronomy/astrophysics, low energy and applied nuclear, medical physics, and physics education.
