Also responsible for initiating allegations of recruiter impropriety. 8/01 – 11/03 Florida Army National Guard (AGR), Ocala, FL Recruiting and Retention NCO: Responsible for recruitment of qualified applicants for the Army National Guard and for maintaining unit attrition rates within prescribed percentages. My focus was on high school senior and college age applicants. I aggressively targeted this audience by conducting a wide range of classes ranging from career direction/goal setting to Life-guarding and scuba. Over the course of my 27 months in this position I taught in excess of 100 complete courses and reached approximately 4000 individuals. I was awarded two Florida Commendation Medals and was selected for outstanding Recruiting and Retention NCO of the year during this time frame. 4/98 – 8/01 Illinois Army National Guard (AGR) Carbondale, IL Recruiting and Retention NCO: Responsible for recruitment of qualified applicants for the Army National Guard and for maintaining unit attrition rates within prescribed percentages. Conducted work study analysis of internal positions of the JR Center. Conducted work aptitude studies on the resident population of developmentally disabled and made recommendations and job placements. Responsible for developing community placement program. I taught first aid and CPR as needed to the center staff. 6/97 – 4/98 Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL Life-guard Crew-chief: Student work position during Graduate School. Worked in a wide range of settings from waterfront/small craft operations to assistance with swim team and swim lessons as needed. Assisted in staff scheduling, hiring interviews, skills tests and training programs. Day to day supervision of lifeguards and appropriate documentation for each facility as assigned in the standard operating procedures. 6/93 – 6/97 Southern Illinois University, Touch of Nature Environmental Center, Carbondale, IL Facility Manager: Responsible for everyday operations of a 3100 acre facility encompassing 200+ buildings and approximately 250 peak staff. Responsibilities included the operation of an outdoor aquatic facility with beachfront and watercraft. Management of staff including hiring, evaluations, training, scheduling and supervision of both Part-Time and Full-Time staff and supervisors. While providing leadership and supervision to staff, also insuring the collective bargaining agreement for the union staff was followed. Facility oversight including inspections for risk management purposes and typical facility manager efforts. Provided close coordination between Plant and Service Operations, Personnel Office and the four indigenous programs housed at the facility. I personally hired, trained, and supervised all aspects of our waterfront operations. I was the center safety officer and created the Emergency Action Plan currently in use today.
