This minor addresses the future needs of our society as the older adult population increases. Students learn about health changes, psychological and social needs for the older adult. They also learn appropriate and safe activities for this population. Practical experience conducting exercise and activities is obtained working with older adults enrolled in the Ball State University Retiree Exercise Program and Internship.
This minor was developed in 1985 and the graduates from the program have obtained positions in hospitals, community-based older adult centers, recreation departments and university wellness centers where they are making a contribution to the active lifestyle of older adults.
