Ball State Sports Medicine Goes International In May 2009, BSU athletic training and exercise science majors traveled to Australia to learn how athletes are treated "down under".  During the 3 week field study course, students stayed in 3 cities: Lennox Head, NSW; Canberra, ATC; and Sydney, NSW.  They interacted with clinicians who care for recreational athletes as well as Australian Olympic contenders.  In addition, students learn a bit about Aussie sports such as surfing, cricket and rugby.  The BSU Sports Medicine Field Study in Australia is being offered again in May 2010. Please see www.bsu.edu/web/at/smfs for more information.

The BSU Athletic Training Education Program also hosted international visitors this summer.  Four students from University of Worcester, England, Marianne (Janne) Moore, George Pearson, Daniel Griffin, and Kathryn Goodfellow came to experience football the American way.  For 3 weeks during pre-season football camp the students worked side-by-side with the BSU staff athletic trainers and athletic training students.  The British students thoroughly enjoyed their American Football experience despite the long practice days which are uncommon in British athletics.  Janne and Kathryn returned to help cover the BSU v. University of New Hampshire football game on Sept 12, 2009.
