Concepción received his Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Concepción teaches Introduction to Philosophy, Ethics, Environmental Ethics, Bioethics, Feminist Ethics, Epistemology, Practical and Professional Ethics, and Contemporary Ethical Theory and Problems (including Metaethics). Dr. Concepción has received both the “Excellence in Teaching” and “Lawhead Core Curriculum Teaching” Awards. Dr. Concepción’s recent publications include the award winning “Reading Philosophy with Background Information and Metacognition” Teaching Philosophy, 27:4, 351-368; “Agency and Blame in Underground Railroad Gray Zones,” forthcoming in Metaphilosophy; “How To Assure Student Preparation and Structure Student-Student Interaction,” Discourse: Learning and Teaching in Philosophical and Religious Studies, Vol. 5:1, 107-119; and “Moral Luck, Control, and the Bases of Desert,” Journal of Value Inquiry, Vol. 36:4, 455-461. Dr. Concepción’s research has been funded by sources including the Lumina Foundation for Education, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and Indiana Campus Compact. Dr. Concepción currently serves as interim co-director of Freshman Connections, Ball State’s learning community program. |
