Students may "double-apply" courses to degrees in both areas. For example, a Religious Studies major is permitted to take 15 hours of electives. A minor may take 3 hours of electives. If the student wants to complete a minor or a second major in Philosophy, he or she can take philosophy courses, 9 hours of which may simultaneously apply toward the Religious Studies major and the Philosophy degree. The student may, however, only count a given course once for purposes of tallying credit hours, so students who "double-apply courses" may need to take additional courses to fill out their credit hour requirements for graduation. All students wishing to complete degrees in both RS and Phil should consult with a departmental advisor to help arrange their course program.
