BSU is proud to celebrate the success of a partner school (12/27/2007)

Ball State has been pleased to partner with the Department of Defense Dependents Schools in Baumholder, Germany since 2003. An important part of this partnership has been the placement of BSU student teachers at Wetzel Elementary School each semester. Over 96% of the students in this school qualify for free or reduced lunch and more than 75% receive support services. Under current principal, Helen Balilo, Wetzel has implemented a standards-based, data-driven improvement plan, which has resulted in significant improvement in the school's performance on the DoDEA standardized tests. School faculty, not only mentor the student teachers, but take advantage of their expertise to support the improvement initiatives in the school. BSU is proud to celebrate the success of Wetzel Elementary School and congratulates the faculty on the significant improvement made by their students.
