Admissions

This committee has two primary functions.  The first is to assist with the planning and coordination of the Parents Advisory Council booth at University Receptions.  The second is to advise the Dean of Admissions and Enrollment Services and Associate Director of Admissions about issues and concerns that parents have in the admission process.  Sharing ideas for communication with prospective students and parents is particularly helpful.

Communications/Student Life

This committee makes recommendations and assists in the publication of the Parents Advisory newsletter, the web page, and discusses campus issues.  The newsletter contains information that may be helpful to parents such as: important phone numbers, new services on campus, often asked questions, upcoming calendar events, a parent to parent newletter, and more.  Campus issues are identified by the vice president's office with input from the Parents Advisory Council.  Discussions focus on soliciting parents' views or providing parents with information concerning university decisions.

Parents Fund

The Parents Fund assists Ball State students in one or more of the following ways:

The Jack Beyerl Emergency Aid Fund provides grants averaging between $200 and $300 to students who experience emergencies that threaten their education.

Special Acquisitions for University Libraries maintain current, pertinent resource materials for students pursuing all fields of study.

Excellence in Leadership Scholarships recognize incoming freshmen who have demonstrated the potential for leadership at Ball State University and who are committed to active participation in our four-year leadership development program. 

The New Student Center will be nestled between the Teachers College and Arts and Journalism buildings.  The proposed student center will create a renewed center to Ball State University's campus. 

Committee members assist University Development by reviewing and approving the fund-raising mail and phonathon programs for the Parents Campaign and provide policy and project recommendations for consideration by the entire Council.
