Office of Teaching and Learning Advancement
OTLA Staff
The OTLA staff is comprised of professional and administrative personnel who are dedicated to supporting faculty members in the ongoing enhancement of teaching and learning at Ball State University.  While the OTLA staff is relatively small, we regularly recruit BSU faculty members to act as consultants and facilitators for our programs, expanding our base of expertise and emphasizing our faculty-to-faculty model of support.  While the staff descriptions below outline our staff's primary responsibilities, we work on most of our projects and services in a very collaborative manner.

Gary Pavlechko, Director of Teaching Technology
Gary directs special initiatives and projects for OTLA, particularly those involving teaching technology (Mediasite, Electronic Teaching Console orientation, etc.).  He also acts as OTLA's main contact with other instructional units across campus.  Gary earned an MED in Curriculum and Instruction from Penn State University, with an emphasis in Instructional Systems.  He teaches Language Arts in the Elementary Grades and Educational Psychology.

Greg Siering, Faculty Development Coordinator
Greg is responsible for the planning and implementation of OTLA's teaching workshops, book groups, and new faculty programs.  In addition, he provides teaching consultations and instructional design support for on- and off-campus courses.  Greg earned his PhD in Composition and Rhetoric, with an emphasis in faculty development and instructional technology.  He teaches freshman composition each fall for the BSU Writing Program.

Brian Pickerill, Assistant Director of Academic Assessment and Coordinator of Assessment Technology (AAIR)
Brian is officially assigned to the Office of Academic Assessment and Institutional Research, but he is currently working out of OTLA in order to assist with our growing emphasis on the assessment of student learning outcomes.  He is involved with the assessment of various Teachers College programs and is also available for consultation with BSU faculty members regarding assessment issues.  Brian's academic background includes an MA in Sociology from Western Kentucky University.

Donna Taylor, Coordinator of the Enhancing Student Learning Initiative
Donna leads the new Enhancing Student Learning Initiative, a program that utilizes faculty fellows from each academic college to coordinate faculty development programs and instructional projects tailored to the unique needs of departments and colleges.  Donna is currently working on a PhD in Language, Literacy, and Culture from University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Teresa Brown Caddell, Administrative Coordinator
Teresa is responsible for the daily operations of the OTLA office, including budgets, room reservations, and workshop participation records.  She can answer most of your questions about OTLA's programs and services.

Kim True, Student Worker
Kim assists in the front office and will likely be the first person you speak with at OTLA.  Kim is a Visual Communication major from Muncie.
