Office of Teaching and Learning Advancement
Excellence in Teaching Award
The Office of Teaching and Learning Advancement coordinates the annual Excellence in Teaching award to recognize faculty dedication and talent in the classroom. The Excellence in Teaching selection process begins with students nominating their choices of excellent teachers. Among those receiving the highest number of nominations, up to ten become finalists (this selection process factors in class sizes).  Each of the finalists creates a proposal for a "Dream Course" as a way of sharing his or her teaching interests and character.  The Excellence in Teaching Award Selection Committee convenes to review the Dream Course proposals, interview each of the finalists, discuss the nominees, and vote on the final three awardees. This committee consists of three students and four faculty members, including some of the previous award winners listed below.

The Excellence in Teaching award provides each recipient with a plaque, recognition at the Fall Faculty Meeting, a stipend paid into the recipient's base salary, an additional honorarium, resources and assigned time to develop the dream course, and an opportunity to teach the course.
