Letter from the President
Good morning and a good new semester to you all. I would like to first welcome any newcomers or prospective students, faculty, or staff of like-minded organizations to Natural Resources Club 2008-2009. Welcome back to the rest of you who enjoyed last year and are coming back for more. Why return you ask? Why do I want to spend my college time messing around planning for a club? To those, a simple answer. The Natural Resources Club and the NREM department itself are both small yet expanding, and the world in its current state of uncertainty require more than just a small portion of the crowd to care. Equally important for college students is the part about enjoying every day of the college experience. Thus, returning members eagerly await going on our second annual caving trip to southern Indiana, planting in local parks, cleaning up the White River and Prairie Creek Reservoir, going to the rifle range, organizing annually Earth Week for the campus, adopting a section of the Cardinal Greenway, the Living Lightly Fair, picnics, hikes, camping, and whatever else the club opts to do this year. Several of the events listed above occur in September so there is no better time to shoot the club an email expressing your interest than now @ NRCLUB@bsu.edu. We have some of the most active meetings of clubs on campus from animals to guest speakers to coffee shop forums to debates at the Atrium. But in the words of Reading Rainbow, "don't take my word for it." The kickoff picnic was Wednesday, August 27th, but new members are joining every month of the school year so you're welcome now or now or now. Finally, if you are with another club or organization and would like to work with us this year, we'd be more than happy to cooperate. Questions? Usually, you will get replies from the club email within a couple days. Best of luck to you academically, socially, and "greenly" this new school year!
