Wetland Characterization is a five-day workshop course based on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual (1987). Students will have significant amounts of field time to apply techniques covered in lecture.  Guest speakers will cover wetland regulation and restoration

Course objectives include examining wetland functions and values; understanding wetland hydrology, hydric soils, and hydrophytic vegetation; and learning how to delineate wetland boundaries.

Academic credit is available in NREM 320/520 but is not required.  Workshop cost for credit is 3 credit hours. No credit cost for the workshop is $750.

The course instructor is Dr. Hugh Brown. The prerequisite is NREM 221 (Soil Resources) or permission of the department chairperson. Please contact Dr. Brown for more information regarding this course.
