The department has led field studies to study both cultural and natural resources of central and western Europe. Our tours have brought us through southern Germany, Austria, and Poland. Sites of interest have included glaciers in the Austrian Alps, the Black Forest of Germany, and sites of historical and cultural interest (castles, forts, cathedrals). Industrial and municipal facilities have also been studied.
