Sushil Sharma, associate professor of information systems and operations management

A member of the Ball State faculty since 2001, Sushil Sharma has demonstrated a high level of productivity in research and publication. His performance includes four books, 30 refereed book chapters, 65 conference proceedings and 43 articles in highly respected information systems journals. Increasingly he is gaining attention at national and international levels, and he is coveted as a participant in academic conferences. Also, his research on Cyber Slacking has been cited by several media news channels.

Sharma currently serves on the editorial boards of five information system journals, and he has been nominated to serve on the editorial board of three of the highest-ranked journals in his field. As well as being a guest editor and associate editor, he is a reviewer for six journals. Nominators state that "his creativity and ingenuity in research areas are unsurpassed, and he always has time for stimulating discussions with students, faculty and the academic community . . . His knowledge alone makes him valuable. The fact that he is able to articulate it well with others makes him priceless!"

He has received several other recognitions, including the Alpha Iota Delta Innovative Education Award in 2003 and a Citation of Excellence as the author of one of the top 50 management articles of 2002. His research on "Identity Authentication Based on Keystroke Latencies" method has been filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. In 2004, he received the Partner Faculty Award from Ball State's Center for Information and Communication Sciences, and he has received the Extraordinary Faculty of the Year Award from the Miller College of Business an unprecedented three times.

Sharma also received grants from the George A. Ball Distinguished Fellowship in Business Administration for 2005 and 2006 as well as from the John W. Fisher Faculty Research Fellowship Program in Business. In addition, he received funding from the 2004-2005 IHETS/IPSE Course and Module Development Grant Program.

Today there is not enough time to address all of his achievements, but suffice it to say that his dedication as a researcher has had a significant impact on his field of inquiry.
