During their visit, New Hampshire's William Zeliff, Jr., and Harold Volkmer of Missouri will lead classes, hold community forums, meet informally with students and faculty, and visit high schools and civic organizations.
Zeliff and Volkmer also will conduct a lecture at 7:30 p.m. March 27 in Teachers College, room 101. An open forum is scheduled from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. March 28 at the E.B. and Bertha C. Ball Center, 400 Minnestrista Blvd. Both events are free and open to the public.
Zeliff, a Republican, served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1991 to 1997, while Volkmer, a Democrat, was a member of Congress from 1977 to 1997.
The Congress to Campus Program is designed to address several aspects of civic learning and engagement among the country's college-age young people.
The program sends pairs of former members of Congress - one Democrat and one Republican per pair - to visit college campuses around the country.
