MUNCIE, Ind. - Open forums are scheduled for two candidates for dean of the College of Sciences and Humanities Ball State is looking to fill the vacancy created when Ronald Johnstone retired in 2002. He had been dean since 1992. Don Van Meter, who had been the college's associate dean, has been interim dean since Johnstone's retirement.
The open forum for Michael A. Maggiotto, dean of the School of Letters and Sciences at the State University of New York Brockport, will be at 1 p.m. March 4 in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center Pineshelf Room.
Before going to SUNY Brockport in 1998, Maggiotto was professor and chair of the Department of Political Science and served as associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Bowling Green State University.
Previously, he taught at the University of Florida and the University of South Carolina.
An open forum for Steven DeLue, senior associate dean of the College of Arts and Science at Miami University, is at 1:30 p.m. March 6 in Student Center Cardinal Hall A.
DeLue has been in his current position with the school in Oxford, Ohio, since Jan. 1, 2003 after serving as associate dean of the college from 1994 to 2002. He has been a political science professor at Miami since 1983, and had previously taught at the University of North Florida and the University of Washington.
