University to host sponsor Vision 2006 events (2/13/2003)
MUNCIE, Ind.—Local economic expansion from 2006 to 2016 and a life sciences videoconference are part of the Vision 2006 activities on Feb. 18.

Ron Fauquher, a co-founder of Ontario Systems Corp. and senior vice president of Ontario Corp., will discuss "Middletown 2016" as part of Tech Tuesday activities. His presentation begins at 4:30 p.m. in the Horizon Convention Center, 401 S. High St.

Fauquher will describe possible economic benefits over a 10-year period if Muncie became the first widely accessible test city for broadband technologies in the country.

Audience members will be asked to consider how they can participate planning practical applications of new technologies being developed as a result of local Vision 2006 technology initiatives.

Vision 2006 is Muncie-Delaware County’s program to foster job growth and economic development in the community. The program encompasses several goals including the expansion and retention of current businesses and the recruitment of knowledge-based businesses to the area.

The monthly life sciences videoconference luncheon features "Case Studies in Collaboration." The presentation will feature one or more executives of growing life sciences firms who have made extensive use of state and university resources.

Participants will have the opportunity, over a box lunch, to ask the policymaker about major issues dealing with the life sciences industry. Some of the policymakers are national and others are involved in the Central Indiana Life Sciences Initiative.

The luncheon is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ball State's Alumni Center, 2800 W. Bethel Ave. The program is sponsored by Indiana's health industry, Barnes and Thornburg, Ball State and Vision 2006.
