The event is sponsored by the Ball State University African Student Association.
The festival kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday with a presentation by Haitian scholar William Leslie Bajan-Gibbered in Cardinal Hall A at the L.A. Pittenger Student Center.
Bajan-Gibbered, a Haitian native and history scholar in residency at the University of Chicago, speaks on "The Metaphysics of Haitian Vodoun: An African Element." The address is co-sponsored by the Anthropology Club.
The festival continues at 6 p.m. Saturday with an African Dinner in Cardinal Hall A.
Featured speaker is Dele Jegede, art history professor at Indiana University, and an African fashion show.
Tickets for the dinner are available for $9. Tickets will not be sold at the door. They can be reserved by calling Pierre Atchade, president of the African Student Association, at 285-8488 or Nene Balde, treasurer, at 214-3048.
