MUNCIE, Ind.-The author of several books and papers on African-American history will speak Feb. 20 at Ball State University.
Jacqueline M. Moore, an assistant professor of history at Austin College in Sherman, Texas, will discuss her new book, "Booker T. Washington, W.E.B. Du Bois, and the Struggle for Racial Uplift," at 3 p.m. in Burkhardt Building, room 100.
The lecture is free and open to the public. Moore will sign copies of her book following her address.
In 1999, she published "Leading the Race: The Transformation of the Black Elite in the Nation's Capital, 1880-1920, Charlottesville, Va." Moore and Nina Mjagkij, a Ball State history professor and director of the African-American Studies program, are co-editors of the African-American history book series published by Scholarly Resources.
