MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State University political science department has created a student scholarship program to honor a former educator.
The A. Michael Corbett Scholarship will provide financial assistance to outstanding undergraduate students majoring in political science at Ball State.
The scholarship was established in memory of Corbett, who succumbed to cancer in 2001 at age 58.

Corbett was born in 1943 in North Carolina to Bill and Midge Sutton Corbett. He received his undergraduate degree from Florida Atlantic University in 1967 and his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in 1972.
He is survived by his wife, Julia; a stepdaughter Hinda Arbogast; stepsons Mikel and Troy Dugger; and three grandchildren.
