The annual Holiday Wish List is designed to assist single parents who are approaching the holiday season with tight budgets. More than 100 gifts for children of all ages were donated in 2001.
"Harry Potter items were very popular last year and will be again this season because the new movie is in theaters," said Tammy Todd, Women's Studies administrative coordinator and co-coordinator of the project.
"Last year we had one parent who was elated to find a Harry Potter toothbrush and toothpaste for her children," she said. "Children also will want anything associated with the movies "Monsters, Inc." or "Ice Age," both of which just came out on DVD."
Todd said gifts for children 10 and older are especially needed this year. Supplies such as socks, blankets, shoes, batteries, books and non-perishable food are also needed.
"We'll accept almost every type of present, but I would like people to keep the older kids in mind," she said.
Donations should be unwrapped and dropped off from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 2-9 in Burkhart Building Room 108. Ball State students who are single parents may visit the office Dec. 10-13 to select holiday gifts and supplies.
Cash and check donations will not be accepted. Gifts not selected by parents by Dec. 13 will be donated to A Better Way, Muncie's nonprofit domestic violence shelter.
