"Dr. Chandler offers very individualized teaching," said Andrea Powell, an honors student from Union County, Ind., who chaired the selection committee. "He wants students to learn on their own, but he expects them to come to him if they need help. Plus, he really challenges his students’ beliefs about their area of study."
Chandler has taught in the department of natural resources and environmental management at Ball State since 1991. He earned a doctorate in forest resources from the University of Washington-Seattle in 1990 and a master of science degree in forest economics from North Carolina State University in 1975.
Chandler will be recognized in an April 6 Honors College luncheon.
