The university's Staff Council public relations committee coordinated the collection of winter clothing at sites around campus from Oct. 28 to Nov. 8.
"I was very excited to see that we have a lot of giving people on this campus contributing to a good cause," said Teresa Rector, staff council member and a purchasing assistant. "We actually extended the drive for another week because we had so many people who wanted to participate.
"We also witnessed a significant jump in the number of children's coats donated during the drive," she said. "This is a very important need for many families each winter."
Muncie Cleaners provided cleaning services free of charge. Clothing was donated to Christian Ministries, a non-profit and non-denominational, community service organization.
