The event coincides with the university football team?s annual spring Cardinal and White game, which pitches two squads of Ball State players against each other. The game starts at 2 p.m. and is free to the public.
A tailgate before the ground-breaking and game is free to football season ticket holders and Cardinal Varsity Club members and $10 for others.
Season tickets can be purchased at the tailgate for $20 for five games. Those who purchase season tickets on site can participate in the tailgate and ground-breaking for free.
The tailgate starts at 12:30 p.m. at the stadium. The ground-breaking begins at 1:30.
The athletic training facility project is part of Above and Beyond: The Campaign to Advance Ball State University. It will house weight- and strength-training equipment for student athletes, meeting and locker rooms for the football team and a sports medicine facility. Construction of the facility begins this summer.
