New scholarship to assist music students (9/25/2002)
MUNCIE, Ind. - The family of a former Ball State University educator and his wife have established a scholarship to assist music students at Ball State University.

The Joseph T. and Susanne E. Naumcheff Music Scholarship will provide financial assistance to students majoring in trumpet who have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and participate in the marching band or one of the concert bands.

Dr. Naumcheff received a bachelor's degree in music education and a master's degree in music education with an emphasis on instrumental music in 1959 from Ball State Teachers College. In 1973, he received his Ed.D. in higher education administration and cognates in public school administration and music from Indiana University. He worked at Ball State for 25 years and completed his career as director emeritus of admissions.

All eight of the Naumcheff's children have attended Ball State with six receiving degrees. The couple resides in Greenwood.
