MUNCIE, Ind. -- A student in the Department of Journalism at Ball State
University is the recipient of a Hearst Photojournalism Award.
Michael Connor, Hastings, Neb., placed 11th from a field of 44 entries. He is a senior photojournalism major.
The annual photojournalism competitions are held in more than 100 member colleges and universities of the Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication with accreditation programs.
The Hearst Journalism Awards, now in its 39th year, added photojournalism to its competitions in 1970. Annual awards are given in six writing contests and a broadcast news competition. Scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $5,000.
Ball State tied for 10th place in the intercollegiate photojournalism competition. Accumulated points given to entrants from each school decided the winner.
