Museum of Art plans 'cool' Family Day (7/7/2008)
From 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 13, the Ball State University Museum of Art will host Creatively Cool Clay Family Day.

The family oriented event will feature events including a demonstration by artist Karen Reichle, hands-on clay art activities, and story time.  There will be tours of the current exhibitions American Studio Ceramics: A Survey of the Collection and Toshiko Takaezu: Inside the Volcano. Members of the Ball State University Clay Guild will also be on hand throughout the day.

A documentary, "Toshiko Takaezu: Portrait of an Artist," and two children's short films, "Dot" and "Ish," will be shown throughout the afternoon.

Family Days at the Museum of Art offer families with children explore the museum together in a safe, and stimulating program geared especially for them.  The events, which are scheduled several times throughout the year, feature hands-on activities, demonstrations and tours designed with children in mind.

The museum also provides a Family Guide that was developed to facilitate conversation between adults and children while learning about art in an informal and engaging manner.  These are available upon request at the museum's front desk and are free to use.

Admission to the Museum of Art is free.  For more information visit www.bsu.edu/artmuseum.
