Individuals with a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, incoming freshmen or transfer students, and women majoring in physical education will be given preference for the G. Ann Uhlir Scholarship.
Uhlir received her bachelor's degree from Ball State and a master's degree and doctorate from Columbia University. She began her teaching career at the State University of New York, Brockport, and then spent 14 years at Eastern Kentucky University as chair of the physical education department.
Uhlir served as executive director of the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics from 1979-82. In 1983, she joined Texas Woman's University as dean of the College of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and was named founding dean of the College of Health Sciences in 1989.
