Business professor honored by publishing company (4/28/2000)

Betty Brown
MUNCIE, Ind. – A Ball State University business educator was recently honored for outstanding contributions to her field.

Betty J. Brown, a business education and office administration professor, is the 1999 recipient of the John Robert Gregg Award in Business Education. She was honored during ceremonies earlier this month in Anaheim, Calif.

The award was presented by representatives of Glencoe/McGraw-Hill, one of the largest publishers of educational programs in the world. It was named in honor of John Robert Gregg, a business educator, researcher and publisher.

Brown has been a faculty member at Ball State since 1985. In 1989 she was promoted to full professor and in 1997 received the Outstanding Business Educator Award from the Indiana Business Education Association. In 1998 she was awarded a certificate of excellence from the organization for her work on curriculum.

She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Ball State and earned a doctorate from the University of Tennessee, where she was on the faculty from 1971 to 1985. Brown, a former Muncie Central High School business teacher, was named business educator of the year by the Tennessee Business Education Association in 1982.
