Ball State's Center for Organizational Resources, International Center earn national award (10/10/2007)
Ball State's Center for Organizational Resources and the Rinker Center for International Programs have earned national honors from the University Continuing Education Association.

The association recently presented the Mid-American region Creative Noncredit Program Award to the university's centers for its Deyang International Leadership Development Training Program, which provides training for intermediate and senior level managerial personnel of the Deyang municipal city government.

The eight-week program enhances participants' intellectual, social and economic understanding of the United States. Each of the eight weeks is dedicated to a specific content area. Field trips, lectures, college classes and workshops are used to enhance the learning experience.

Another critical component of the training program is the weeklong internships which are selected based on the individual goals of the delegates. In addition, delegates are paired with host families so that the international guests have the opportunity to personally engage in American family life.

Muncie, Ind., and Deyang, China, have had a sister-city relationship since 1994.  The relationship was formed with the idea to promote understanding, friendship and mutually beneficial interaction between both cities.

The University Continuing Education Association award program recognizes institutional excellence, individual achievement and contributions to the association and to the field of continuing higher education.
