Nancy Kingsbury, dean of Ball State's College of Applied Sciences and Technology (CAST), announced she will step down as dean Aug. 15 and return to the faculty.

Under her leadership, CAST greatly increased its enrollment to become the second largest college at Ball State and made great strides in other areas as well, said Provost Terry King.

"Along with the dynamic growth in enrollment, there are many indicators that suggest there has been increased excellence in teaching, scholarship and service during Dean Kingsbury's tenure," he said. "I want to publicly thank her for the innovations she and her faculty together have developed during the last five years and wish her well in all future endeavors."

A national search process to fill the position will begin immediately. During the search, Gwen Robbins, who retired as associate dean emerita in 2005, has agreed to return to campus to assume the position of interim dean. Robbins has served as a faculty member in the School of Physical Education, Sport, and Exercise Science and then as an associate dean for a number of years.
